Sauganash Park
As a result of misuse of the park, the Chicago Park District announced that Sauganash Park will now close at 9:00 PM each day of the week, indefinitely. Increased police patrols have also been implemented. Reminder: City curfew for minors ages 12 – 18 is 11:00 PM.
Sauganash Park Clean Up Event
Tell us what you are doing this summer in our neighborhood! We pitched in to clean up our park last weekend. The grounds at Sauganash Park look fabulous!
Public Safety Meeting
In light of recent events in our neighborhoods, Alderman Nugent is hosting a ward-wide virtual community safety meeting on Tuesday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to provide residents with primary source information regarding safety in our ward. The Chicago Police Department 16th & 17th Districts will join the Alderman to answer questions from our community. Questions should be submitted in advance of the meeting through the meeting link or directly to Ward39@CityofChicago.org.
Snow Plowing Services
Once again, record snowfall is forecast for our area. The plows are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. tomorrow when the snowfall is expected to end. Because of the sheer volume of snow, we’re only aiming for down the middle and where it’s clear. It will not be possible to clear the streets completely. We are not asking people to try to move their vehicles during the plowing to clear both sides. Our goal is to provide a basic ability to navigate our streets safely and provide access for emergency vehicles. This will likely be long before the city plows can reach our side streets. Plowing is a hefty expense and is only one of the services and events funded by the Association. The last plowing event cost over $10,000, and at mid-February, this may not be the last snow of the season. Even though the whole neighborhood benefits, it is funded by only about 30-40% of the neighborhood who joins the association.
Consider helping your elderly neighbors. If you have a fire hydrant in front of your property, please make sure it is cleared of snow so emergency personnel can see and access it. For information on city plows, visit Chicago Plow Tracker or call the Ward office.

Sauganash Boundary Map
Almost 1,500 families call Sauganash home, nestled within an area defined by Devon Avenue to the north, the Edens Expressway to the west, Bryn Mawr Avenue to the south, and the Sauganash Trail to the east. The downtown area is just a quick 15-minute drive via the expressway, and the community enjoys excellent public transportation options.
