SCA – Bob Perkaus Memorial 5K & Halloween Update

The Sauganash Community Association has made the difficult decision to suspend the 2021 Bob Perkaus Memorial 5K Race in consideration of the safety of our participants, volunteers and onlookers. Instead, to honor this community fall tradition, we are asking that our Sauganash residents submit pictures and statements about how they are staying fit and having family fun during the pandemic. Your submissions with creative captions can be sent to contact@sauganash.org for inclusion on our community SCA website. We look forward to gathering together next fall (2022) for the return of the SCA Bob Perkaus Memorial 5K Race.

Halloween is the next holiday for which we will be delivering ribbons to decorated Sauganash homes. Special “Sauganash Surprise” gift bags will be awarded in three categories: “most spooktacular”, “most ghastly, ghostly, ghoulish”, and “most illuminated/animated”. The SCA Halloween Team is looking forward to seeing our Sauganash celebration of this Fall/Halloween season!

Happy Independence Day

Be Kind, Courteous and Respectful

Respect your neighbors by practicing fireworks courtesy, the noise and lights of fireworks can often have a frightening effect on our veterans, children and animals. Please keep your at-home fireworks to a minimum (preferably none). Support you local BOOM by watching fireworks at a safe and centralized location near you!

4th of July Parade

The SCA’s annual parade steps off at 9:30 AM with marching bands, a firetruck and more, led by Honorary Parade Marshal Paula Fitzgerald.  Sauganash and Sauganash Park residents are invited to join in by foot, bike, wagon, vintage/specialty car or float at 9:00 am at Thorndale and Kostner.  The parade will conclude  with a flag raising ceremony at the War Memorial at Peterson and Forest Glen Avenues, the ceremony will be MC’d by longtime radio host Karen Hand.

Unfortunately, due to the delay in obtaining the City permit and in an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy, the SCA will NOT be hosting the post parade park event. We look forward to hosting the event next year!
