Peterson/Caldwell Bridge and Exit Ramp Closure Updates

Please be mindful of the ramp closures at Peterson/Caldwell, and Cicero. IDOT is installing additional signage to notify motorists.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Peterson/Caldwell Bridge and Exit Ramp Closure – The Petersen bridge over I-94 is undergoing structural repairs and receiving a new deck overlay. Large portions of the deck are impassable for traffic exiting from I-94, making the ramp closures necessary for safety.  The project has a 50 working day time limit. Work began June 1st. A reasonable estimate for the length of the project would be 4 months, setting the completion date at the end of September, assuming there are no major unforeseen complications. The closure permit was set for the end of November to allow time for those unforeseen complications.  The city anticipates the ramp opening before the end of November.

4th of July Picnic: Volunteers we want YOU!

We need a few good volunteers to make the 4th of July picnic a success! We have volunteer opportunities for 7th and 8th graders (service credit available) and/or adults. Choose your job, choose your shift – lots of options available! Recruit a friend or two to make volunteering even more  FUN!

All residents of Sauganash and Sauganash Park are invited to join in by foot, bike, wagon, vintage/specialty car, float or any creative method of your choice. Prizes will be awarded for best decorated bikes and floats.

  • Please remove your cars from parade route by 9:00 AM.
  • The parade will form at 9:00 AM at Thorndale and Kostner Avenues and start at 9:30 AM.
  • The parade will conclude with a flag raising ceremony at the War Memorial at Peterson and Forest Glen Avenues.
  • The picnic, open to all paying members, will immediately follow at Sauganash Park with hot dogs, refreshments, games, music, and activities for all ages.
  • Pay your SCA membership dues for the 2022-23 calendar year. Look for the SCA membership tent at the event, or you can renew HERE .

It’s Happening! 4th of July Parade & Picnic!

Sauganash and Sauganash Park residents are invited to join the parade by foot, bike, wagon, vintage/specialty car or float at 9:00 AM at Thorndale and Kostner.
There will be a flag raising ceremony at the War Memorial at Peterson and Forest Glen Avenues followed by a picnic at Sauganash Park. Prizes for best decorations will be awarded! Come one, come all! See you there!

Join us for SCA Annual Open Meeting

All Sauganash residents are invited to join our annual open meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, May 17 at 7:00 PM. Residents can join in by dialing +1-312-626-6799, Meeting ID: 841 11552246, Passcode: 105810. Government representatives from various levels will share updates on services and programs available for constituents. Speakers from local schools, parks and city services will also be present, and community safety information will be available from the CPD 17th District. The 2022-2023 SCA Board of Directors election will also take place.

Coffee & Conversation with 17th District Commander

Mark your calendars and join 17th District Commander Michelene Alexa and local CPD officers for coffee & conversation on Wednesday, April 27th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at McDonald’s, 4546 N. Almost 1,500 families make Sauganash their home in an area bounded by Devon Avenue to the north, the Edens Expressway to the west, Bryn Mawr Avenue to the south and the Sauganash Trail to the east. Downtown is only 15 minutes away on the expressway, and the community is well served by public transportation

Submit Aircraft Noise Complaints Via 311

Sauganash residents are encouraged to submit aircraft noise complaints to the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) via 311

Official aircraft noise complaints include all complaints submitted via telephone to the O’Hare Noise Hotline 1-800-435-9569 or online via 311. Complaints are then forwarded to the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) for tracking purposes only and will be included as data in the Airport Noise Management System  reports.
